John "Jack" Miller applied his first career in Law Enforcement and Criminal Investigations to his second career of Casino Games and their protection. Jack was a Special Agent with the Air Force Office of Special Investigations (OSI) conducting investigations of felony crimes. This included  counter-intelligence and counter-espionage investigations. After retiring from the military, he joined the Clark County District Attorneys office as a Special Investigator of "white collar" and conspiratorial crimes. He worked with undercover teams from the local Police and the FBI conducting burglary stings. He then joined the Nevada State Gaming Control Board (GCB) as an Enforcement Agent. He was certified by Nevada State and Federal Courts as an Expert witness during trials of gambling cheats.

A young airman is spotted by a Soviet spotting agent and targeted for espionage recruitment. Before proper vetting is complete, the airman receives orders transferring him to Nellis AFB. Hungry for an asset, the Soviets proceed with the recruitment. They are not aware he had contacted the Air Force Office of Special Investigations (OSI) and is being handled as a double agent. The transfer complete, the airman is assigned to work on classified projects in the middle of the Nevada Desert where an actual spy is uncovered.

Las Vegas police are plagued with burglaries and robberies. Two detectives come up with an ingenious plan to have the thieves and burglars sell them the evidence of their crimes. They pose undercover as fences for almost five months. In this, real life, first long-term police sting the thieves and burglars are video taped selling their swag, and audio taped during their admissions of all sorts of  criminal activity. One unexpected activity was the brutal murder of a man and his car stolen. The murderers then sell the car to the undercover police.

In this sequel to Cold War Warrior, the Soviet Spy, Mikhail Trykalov has been caught. Now he is forced to cooperate with the FBI or risk being shot by his Soviet masters. Reluctantly he agrees to this blackmail and begins providing information. Without warning he learns of a disaffected military man who wants to extract revenge on the USAF by selling information one time to the Soviets. The FBI with the information provided by Mikhail prevents the release of the information. But now the Colonel Mikhail Trykalov must defect and request asylum. Receiving asylum is the easy part, now he must avoid being located by his former group of loyalists.

Text Box: I have just completed the first draft of a new military book titled The Medal. It is going through some review and then it should be ready for editing. 

The story in The Medal is of a young man who gets in trouble and is told by the judge, Three years in the military or three years is prison. Our character takes the lesser of two evils but finds that he does not like the way he is treated and decides to quit. He finds that you just do not quit the military and lands in a stockade where he has the desired epiphany, alters his life and starts to chase a specific military medal which most soldiers receive. However the Good Conduct Medal keeps eluding him because of a series of events, some of his own making, make him ineligible for the award.

Upcoming Events:

On March 25, Wednesday, at 6:30 pm Jack will be one of the authors on a panel at the Clark County Library, 1401 E. Flamingo Road. The panel will be discussing and answering questions about bridging the gap from actual experience into fiction. Also on the panel will be Jacqueline Lyons, Bob Stanton, Elaine Stubbs and C.D. Williams.
 
On 5 May, Tuesday, at 6:30 pm, Jack will be at the Atomic Energy Museum, 755 E. Flamingo to talk about and answer questions pertaining to espionage during the Cold War and Nevada involvement. This will include a power point presentation.
