Casino Cheats at work and play
The Master Cheat is a true story however, the main characters are composites of actual casino cheats. The methods used to recruit, train, and obtain false identities are accurate. The methods used by the gang to cheat slot machines and the new electronic video games are real. The methods used to cheat casino table games are also accurate.

The story follow a man who was a "problem child" who became a "problemed adult". He has forsaken his family and is hiding from the law when he takes a vacation to Las Vegas using an assumed name. Lady Luck sits on his shoulder for several days. He wins and wins. He amasses a large bankroll, quits his job and intends to remain in Las Vegas winning however, Lady Luck is fickle. She leaves and soon he is broke. A recruiter for a cheat group entices him to be a collector for a fraudulent jackpot and soon he is a regular part of the team. He graduates to cheating the new electronic slot machines until greed and the law again closes in. Now he organizes a cheat group that will apply various techniques to cheat the table games. His final lesson which he must learn is that there is no honor among thieves.

The activities of both the Nevada State Gaming Control Board and the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police are accurately portrayed. Some of the methods used by casinos to detect cheating are both true and accurate however, not all methods are explained.
